Remembering the Missing: Honoring the Victims of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People

During these painful days of May, we cannot forget the heartbreaking stories of Indigenous people who have gone missing and been murdered. These lost individuals are not just numbers on a report - they are family, friends, and members of our community. They have names, stories, and they all deserve to be honored and remembered.

The Indigenous Community Needs to Be Heard

Recently, a vigil was held at the California State Capitol to honor those who have gone missing and been murdered. Families, loved ones, and the community gathered to light candles, share their stories, and demand justice.

Every year, over 1,500 Indigenous women go missing, and many cases of violence remain unaddressed. According to the CDC, homicide is the fourth leading cause of death for Indigenous men and the sixth for Indigenous women. These numbers are just a part of the dark picture of the lack of protection and support for Indigenous people.

Why We Need to Remember and Take Action

We must act now. Not only to remember, but to create real change. The Indigenous community has faced countless hardships and injustices, and honoring those who have passed is a way to show solidarity and hope. We hope that these stories will not be forgotten and that they will motivate us to act in order to protect those still in the community.

At Empower Native Voice, we are committed to creating a space that not only sells products but also spreads the message of Indigenous rights. Every product we sell, from t-shirts and hoodies to jewelry, carries historical value and spiritual strength. These gifts are not just items; they are symbols of the struggle, of those who have passed, and those who continue to fight for their rights.

Join us in sharing these stories and continuing this journey. Every item you purchase will help spread the message and support the Indigenous community.
